Meet Our Team

Trina Hjelsing, MEd

Registered Social Worker #2154

I am a U of R Hockey Alumni, I am a hockey mom of three children, I am a wife. I am a Registered Social Worker and have a Masters in Education (Psychology). As a former athlete and having life experiences working through my own mental health challenges along with the training I have, I am here to help athletes, coaches, and families live a healthy life both on and off the field, ice or any other space. My purpose is to provide guidance, support, and hold space in a non-judgmental and confidential atmosphere.

Janna Bridgeman, BSW

Certificate of Sport Social Work

Registered Social Worker #3891

Janna is a dedicated Registered Social Worker with over 20 years of experience supporting youth and families. Her passion lies at the intersection of sports and community well-being. Having played university volleyball, she understands the transformative power of athletics.  Janna’s journey took an exciting turn when she spent a summer training with Team Canada, immersing herself in the next level of high-performance sports. This experience fueled her commitment to helping young athletes navigate the challenges they face both on and off the playing surface.  Her expertise extends to both individual and team sports, allowing her to tailor her support to the unique needs of each athlete. Whether it’s mental health counselling or mental mindset training, Janna is a trusted advocate.

Beyond her professional life, Janna wears multiple hats. She is a devoted wife and a loving mom of two boys, who played a variety of sports growing up, but both chose hockey.  Having a son in the WHL, she has a first hand understanding of the pressure, commitment, expectations, dedication and adjustments needed to play at a semi-pro level.  She cherishes the moments spent cheering them on from the stands.

Janna’s unwavering commitment to the sports community, combined with her nurturing spirit, makes her an invaluable asset to athletes, families, teams and coaches.
